⬂↘⬊ July Releases ⬋↙⬃

Welcome to Precommendations, a serial on my blog where I try to make your TBRs so large that they end up swallowing you whole. Just kidding (I think…). Since summer is officially in full swing, I have found more and more time to read. I can’t wait to start posting more reviews in this space, and if you have any recommendations or requests, be sure to leave them in the comments!

⬂↘⬊ Maybe This Time ⬋↙⬃
by Kasie West

Summer is the time when I love to read romantic comedies, so when I saw Kasie West had a new one coming out, I knew it was going to be the perfect summer read. Last year, I read Save the Date by Morgan Matson (#queen), and Maybe This Time sounds like it will have the same kind of mood. They both feature special events, but instead of having a condensed timeline like Save the Date, Maybe This Time is set over a year. I am excited to see how the format of this book plays into the story because I think it will make all the difference!

⬂↘⬊ Spin the Dawn ⬋↙⬃

The first part of this story’s blurb says, “Project Runway meets Mulan-,” and I was sold right there. I have never heard of a book like this, and I’m so excited to read an entirely unique fantasy novel. I feel like I can get into ruts when I read fantasy just because there are lots of quests and thieves and swords and assassins, which, don’t get me wrong, are all great. But sometimes I want to read fantasy without all the generic fantasy things. So fantasy Project Runway? Count me in.

⬂↘⬊ Wilder Girls ⬋↙⬃

I’m not usually a horror reader, but the more I looked into this book, the more interested I became. Wilder Girls seems to me like it will be a mixture of We Were Liars and The Maze Runner. It sounds like there will be lots of suspense and mystery throughout the story, while incorporating a “survival game” kind of vibe. I’m thrilled to see how this book will be received. I think there is a lot more to the story than what the blurb offers up!

I can’t wait for my next trip to the bookstore so I can pick these guys up. Until then, it’ll be interesting to see how these three releases are received.

Your summer lover,
Ashton
