May is here, and it has brought warmer weather with it! I am so excited to see summer around the corner, and my anticipated releases certainly reflect that. I am very much a mood-reader, so when the seasons change, my genre ratio in my reading shifts, specifically to contemporaries in the summer. So, I have lined up six up-and-coming books to share with you this month along with some exciting news.

Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza—but who knows what they'll find seven months after the invasion?
Meanwhile, Kady's cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza's ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys—an old flame
from Asha's past—reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.
With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heroes will fall, and hearts will be broken.

5 YA Books to Make Your Mouth Water

I love reading—there’s something about being able to look at symbols on a page and be able to create worlds, characters, and scenarios inside your head. While I love “seeing” all of these things come to life, my favorite scenes to craft in my head are the ones involving food. Books with food scenes (specifically baking and desserts) can bring a little extra spark of immersion into their stories while also having a bit of fun along the way. For that reason, I am bringing you five of my favorite books featuring the foods they’re known for.

Happy 2 Years, The Book Insider!

My blog is TWO YEARS OLD TODAY!! I can’t believe I’ve been shouting about books on the internet for that long. It’s crazy to think about it! So, I thought a great way to celebrate would be to compile a list of my favorite and most popular posts in the past year.* I also decided to include some of my favorite #bookstagram posts from the year as well. (The only thing I didn’t bring is cake...I know, I’m sad too. Maybe next year I can throw a blogiversary party, and I will invite all of you!)

*I only included the past year because I did a similar version of this post last year. You can check that out here.

Let’s be real here because it’s just you and me...you’re going to have to lean in to hear this...I couldn’t think of what to blog about this week, and I’ve been busier with schoolwork than usual, so this is my way out...HAHAHA. The good news is that I have been doing a lot of reading and writing in the past week (in the form of a research paper AND required reading. Hoo-ray). So, I figured this would be the perfect time to inform all of my beautiful readers out there Hi! on my life as it is at this very moment.

These past few weeks have been a time of the young adult book-to-movie adaptation. I went and saw both of these movies within a week of each other, and even though they are two entirely different animals, they each earned a special place in my heart.
