A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.
After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.
The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is
to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice. But now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever.
Welcome, welcome to Caraval...the games have only just begun.

Why Timing Can Be Everything

Have you ever completed a book and thought any of the following?
  • I still am not sure who this character is…
  • Why is this event important?
  • It’s not that the book wasn’t enjoyable, but I don’t think I liked it…
If you have, then you are probably suffering from an ill-timed read (Diagnosed by Ashton Smith Re.D. [Doctor of Reading lol]). Sometimes you start reading a book that is supposed to be REALLY GOOD, but you happen to start it at a

time of your life when you only read ten pages at a time. Maybe work gets busy, or finals are coming up, but you get about halfway through a book and still don’t feel like you’ve been immersed in the story yet. I think every reader can understand this problem; all you want to do is sit down and read, but you can’t.
The struggle for me is real with this issue, since my final exams are this week, so I thought I would share a few tips on how to combat the “Bad Timing Read.”

I’m so excited to be sharing my first NetGalley Review with the world! This experience has been an absolute BLAST, and I couldn’t be happier to have this experience. Since I first started this blog, one of the biggest goals of mine was to be able to read and review ARCs, and in the past couple of weeks, I have been able to achieve that goal. I hope that these reviews become somewhat routine and that I will be able to review even more in the future.

The Queen’s Rising, by: Rebecca Ross (Feat. My First Buddy Read!)

These past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of being able to do my first buddy read with @bookish.nurse over on Instagram. Since we had such a fun time discussing the book as we read it, I thought that I would invite her to review it with me!
Note: this post is more of a discussion type of review between the two of us, so there are minor spoilers out there for those of you who haven’t read it. But the last two questions we talk about our experiences with the buddy read, so make sure you scroll down to the bottom to check that out.
